Pinched Nerve

Pinched nerve really means pressure or compression on the nerve tissue. It can be painfully debilitating or just annoying. It can come suddenly or slowly and if not treated can cause permanent damage. The nerves are the communication pathway that control everything in your body. You don’t have to live with nerve compression or pain. Seek treatment early to prevent damage and improve the quality of your life.

“I was literally a train wreck of pain and miss-alignment on my first visit and was incredibly relieved & realigned after just a few sessions! I have seen chiropractors on & off for 25+ years and know that he is seriously the “REAL DEAL” of holistic health care! I refuse to see another chiropractor and drive from Hamilton every week to Florence (Initially 2X’s per week) Passing up 10 other practices in route. He is intuitive and really listens; he is willing to treat everything that is sore in one visit. He cares and truly wants to help you. Thank God for him!”

“Dr. Marston is the best chiropractor I have ever gone to and I’ve been seeing chiropractors for over 30 years. I was going to a young chiropractor in Missoula. Right away he messed my hips up and left me in severe pain. He tried for six months to put my hips back in the right position for my body (I had one short leg) but he couldn’t get my hips adjusted right. I then came to Dr. Marston and he fixed my hips in one visit. He is professional and someone that I admire very much. Thank you Dr. Marston for making my quality of life so much better for myself and my husband.”

“I have had constant back pain for 20+ years. Have had many chiropractic adjustments for some relief. Always have taken Motrin for pain relief daily. After a month of twice weekly treatments with Dr. Marston, I’m standing straighter, have more flexibility, less pain and off the Motrin. Feels great to feel good again!

John P 6/9/17

“When I cam to Dr. Marston, I could not raise my left arm. I had already used Physical Therapy for 12 weeks to no avail. After just a few weeks of chiropractic care, he had found the problem and fixed it. The ultrasound was wonderful and healed the area fast.”

Victoria W 2/1/16

“As someone with scoliosis and ongoing structural issues. I have been to a lot of chiropractors over the past 30 years. Dr. Marston is the only one who has taken the time to truly learn what works best for my particular challenges and has adjusted his approach to address my changing structural needs. I know that no matter what symptoms I present with, new or familiar, he will take the time and attention to detail to make sure I walk out of the office feeling better. It’s invaluable to me to have a chiropractor in whom I can place so much confidence and trust.

Heather M

“My first visit to Doctor Marston was to try to get help with my pain [in] the back and hip area. With X-rays and follow-up, the doctor came up with a treatment plan. After a couple of visits I could already notice some big changes and pain relief. I think he can help get me healed and pain free.”

Pam C 8/7/15

“I first came to Dr. Marston in so much pain I couldn’t even stand up straight. We found out what the problem was together and he explained everything, each step of the way. I felt confident going into treatment and started looking forward to my appointments. Now 3 months later, I am virtually pain free. Dr. Marston has not only helped my initial pain, but has also helped in other areas I didn’t even know needed help! Thank you, Dr. Marston, for EVERYTHING!”

Common Causes of Pinched Nerves

Nerve compression is usually caused by bone or soft tissue pressing on some part of the nerve. This could be the result of an injury, infection, or misalignment of the joints. Swelling of soft tissue such as muscle or ligament can decrease the space provided for nerves and cause pain. Spinal disc degeneration or herniation can also place pressure on the nerve roots causing pain in the arms or legs. When nerve compression is left untreated nerves can atrophy which is a wasting away of the tissue. Your pain may or may not decrease in time, and the function and health of what is controlled by that nerve will degrade.

Symptoms of A Pinched Nerve

There are many reported symptoms of a pinched nerve. A pinched nerve or nerve compression can make your hand or foot feel numb and tingly. It can shoot pain from your low back to below your knee making walking very difficult. Nerve compression feels like a sharp stabbing pain in your back that doesn’t let you stand up straight. It can feel like a burning sensation when the area is touched. Sharpness in the shoulder when you raise your arm may be a pinched nerve. It is possible to have pain in your lower leg and foot from a nerve that is compressed or pinched in your low back, even though there is no low back pain. When your muscles spasm, it is because the nerve that controls it is being stimulated or “pinched”.

Alleviate Pain and Uncover the Underlying Problem with Chiropractic

The nervous system is the most important system in the body. It regulates automatic functions like breathing, heartbeat, digestion, hormone secretion. It allows voluntary movement of head, arms and legs. The control center of this system, the brain, is where learning and function command is governed. The nervous system is what allows you to express who you are or want to be. When there is damage to that system all the other functions of the body can become distorted or even stop. Keeping this system healthy is so important to what quality of life you live. Finding the true cause of your pain and dysfunction and treating it quickly and properly is the best decision you can make to live a happy life.
